Mysore or Mysuru junction railway station which was opened in 1870, is located on Mysore to Bangalore railway electrified broad gauge double lines at an elevation of 760 metre. This station is certified under ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ASO 45001. Myore station is connected by a line to Hassan and a branch line to Chamarajnagar. This station comes under South Western Zone of Indian Railways and has six platforms. It offers rail connectivity to Bangalore, Chennai, Coimbatore, Salem, Howrah, Chamarajanagar, Jaipur, Arsikere, Varanasi, Darbhanga, Tuticorin, Hyderabad, Talguppa, Trichy, Bagalkot, Yesvantpur, Dharwar, Renigunta, Hubballi, Belagavi, Nanjangud, Kannur, Tirupati, Solapur, Mayiladuturai, Udaipur, Vijayapura, Yelhanka, Mumbai, Shimoga and  Delhi. There is a rail museum located near this station.
