This clock tower was built in 1882 in the junction of Bazaar Gate Road and
Perin Nariman Street in Fort, with money raised by public subscription to honour
the work of the philanthropist it is named after. It had a drinking
water fountain. The architecture has influence of Assyrian or Persepolis style
as can be seen in winged bull reliefs on all facades and acanthus leaf cornice,
built in Malad and Kurla stone. It was restored to current condition in 2017.
This junction is cluttered and the passers-by and onlookers are indifferent to
this rare wonder.
