Madakalli Airport or Mysore Airport was established in 1940 by the Princely State of Mysore on 290 acres of land. Passenger services began in 1950 and The Hindu newspaper operated daily flights for delivery of its newspapers. It has a single runway and has one terminal, which can hold 150 passengers and can smaller aircrafts can land here. The architectural design of the airport is bold, elegant and functional.
