CPPRI which was established as a project with an objective to create the required research and development facilities to for evaluation of fibrous materials for the Indian paper industry, became operational in 1975 under UNDP-GoI. It has established itself as a premier institution of research making enormous contributions in its chosen field of operation. The building and the campus is spartan, functional and beautiful. Its logo is unique in a sense that it reads paper in Hindi and also the acronym CPPRI.
