This monument was built by British as a memorial to Queen Victoria as a great marble hall. This is spread over 57 acres has 21 gardens and houses 3900 paintings and 28,394 artefacts. According to Lord Curzon, this museum was created as a “standing record of our wonderful history” in 1921. The garden has statue of Queen Victoria by Sir George Frampton, equestrian statue of King Edward VII by Sir Bertram Mackennal, marble statue of Lord Curzon by F. W. Pomeroy and statues of R. A., Lord Bentick, Lord Ripon, Sir Rajendranath Mookerjee. I am astonished by the tenacity of the British in building cities and monuments in places far away from their native and mostly starting as hostile traders and rulers.
