Dhauli Hills is located on the banks of river Daya, south of Bhubaneswar. It is a hill with vast open space adjacent to it, where the Kalinga War was fought. The river Daya had turned red with blood of following the war and this supposed to have turned him to Buddhism. It has major edicts of Emperor Ashoka engraved on mass rock leading to the summit of the hill. On the hill, there is a white pagoda, built by the Japanese in 1972. This is one of the eighty peace pagodas built around the globe. At the foot of the hill Saddharma Vihar Monastery, a Buddhist monastery located. This is the place which can turn anyone into a new person with a pacifist view upon a visit.
