This is commonly known as Bandel Church was
founded in 1599 by Portuguese settlers. This church is dedicated to Nossa
Senhora do Rosário, Our Lady of Rosary. This is a minor basilica sine 1988. A
ship’s mast presented to the church by captain of a vessel that had encountered
a storm in Bay of Bengal, whose rescue was attributed to Mary, stands in front
of the church. This church has three altars, an organ, a shrine to Mary and a
number of tombstones. The history of the church tells about the human spirit of
adventure and the enterprise of Portuguese.
